#Roommates, Meek Mill’s out here making moves! The Philly native can now add corporate co-owner to his title. According to @BusinessInsider, Meek revealed he is now a co-owner of the sports apparel company.
For those who don’t know, Lids is North America’s largest retail seller of hats and licenses sports products. Along with the new ownership title, he also led the company’s creative strategy and released a limited-edition line of hats back in August. In terms of his connection to the apparel company, he said: I’ve always been a fan of Lids. Growing up, I remember buying their hats to match my outfits and look my best,” Meek says in a press release. “It’s amazing to see my relationship with the brand come full-circle and have the opportunity to evolve as a businessman. We have a great team in place and we’re looking forward to taking Lids to new heights.”
Apparently, Meek joins the ownership team after his close friend Mike Rubin (who happens to be the co-owner of the Philadelphia 76ers) let him know what a good investment it was.
In the interview with Business Insider, Meek reportedly spoke about admiring Jay Z’s business acumen and how he “studied” and looks at Jay Z as someone he aspires to be like.
Meek has been extending himself beyond music. Mostly advocating for changes in prison reform and bringing more awareness to racial and judicial injustices. As we all know, Meek has had his fair share of issues with the justice system and how being on probation has impacted his life.
