#TSRPositiveImages: Lauren Simmons is busting down barriers while getting it on the floor, the floor of the famous New York Stock Exchange that is!
The 23-year-old is an equity trader for Rosenblatt Securities. She’s also both the youngest and the only full-time female employee to hold that position, according to CNBC.
It was her passion for numbers that led her to secure her current position by applying to an opening posted on LinkedIn! In an environment that’s known to be a boy’s club, the Georgia native is a standout as so many doubted she’d even pass the exam required of all floor brokers to earn their badge.
She says passing the difficult fiance-intensive exam shocked everyone and eased her doubts about whether she could manage the role. She says it also proved to the men on the floor that she was more than qualified to work alongside them.
Lauren, who has been there a little more than a year, says her best advice that she can give to anyone pursuing a career on Wall Street, especially women, is to not limit themselves.
