Will Smith and Jaden Smith are out here doing some amazing things #Roommates! Tuesday marks day 1,412 since the people of Flint, Mich. have had clean, safe water in their homes and its clear that the Smiths, along with several others, have had enough!
According to The Root, Will and Jaden have an eco-friendly water company that has donated 9,2000 bottles of water to the city. Whats amazing about this is that theyre going to continue to donate on a monthly basis until lead levels in Flint public schools are below the federal threshold.
Just Water CEO Ira Laufer spoke with MLive and said this was something they had to do.
This just makes sense for us to do, Laufer said. Jada Smith has visited Flint and met with the mayor. Flint is very dear to her heart… After reading more about [Flints] challenges and the mayor objecting to pulling bottled water from the schools, we thought Lets help these kids.
Testing conducted back in February showed that lead levels in Flint schools were below the federal action limit, but five of nine elementary schools had at least one test that exceeded the threshold.
