<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">From our cars to our TVs and phones, it seems like nearly every one of our daily amenities has been upgraded by technology and then smacked with a ‘smart’ label on it.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Apparently there’s no such thing as too far because now we’re going to have “smart diapers.” Pampers announced its new line of smart diapers this week, which creators claim will track a baby’s urine as well as sleep, <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2019/07/19/tech/pampers-smart-diapers/index.html">@cnn</a> reports.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The Lumi by Pampers line, which Pampers claims already has a waitlist ahead of its U.S. launch this fall, includes an activity sensor that secures to a &#8220;landing&#8221; on the front of a baby&#8217;s diaper. It comes with a baby monitor and a 10-day supply of diapers. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The sensor serves its purpose with a corresponding app to log the baby’s pee and identify patterns. Additional packs of Lumi by Pamper diapers will then be sold separately, but the pricing on these smart diapers is still being figured out.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">If you think, “what was the reason,” for these diapers, keep in mind that many pediatricians tell parents to keep track of how often their baby is going to the bathroom, especially in those first few months after birth. So let’s just say this diaper makes tracking that a heck of a lot easier.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">There are obviously cheaper ways to track those patterns and even cheaper diapers that do so by changing color when the diaper is wet.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Parents using the Lumi diapers will in theory not have to worry about checking any of that because they&#8217;ll get smartphone alerts. The app will display one of three diaper statuses: dry, wet, very wet.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;Parents didn&#8217;t ask for a poo or pee alarm; they wanted something more like the smart watches of today,&#8221; a Pampers spokesperson told CNN Business. &#8220;The activity sensor tracks baby&#8217;s sleep and since it&#8217;s there on the diaper, it can also track &#8230; if a diaper is wet.&#8221;</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Before y’all think Pampers is onto something, last year Huggies debuted a similar concept in Korea. Their diapers allowed parents to receive text alerts when their baby pooped.</span></p>
