State officials are currently looking into the passing of Anthony Myrie, an inmate who was locked up at #GreeneCorrectional in New York and whose death has raised the suspicions of many.
Officials with the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision claim that Myrie passed away after he was involved in a fight with several inmates, according to @news10abc. Sources said Mryie started having chest pains and was taken to the hospital where he died.
There were questions initially about the location of Myrie’s body, but officials and family members have confirmed that his body has been found and is reportedly currently at the Albany County Medical Examiner’s Office. While questions remain surrounding the circumstances of Myrie’s death, an official cause of death will be released after an autopsy and an investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
Myrie’s story caught the attention of social media with many calling for justice. Meek Mill and Cassanova, among other celebrities, made Instagram posts about Myrie.
Accusations have been made against the facility about the alleged mistreatment and violence against inmates, but officials did not respond to requests for comment about those allegations.
