It looks like Samuel L. Jackson has landed himself yet another role, and this time he’ll be starring in Chris Rock’s reboot of the “Saw” horror film.

According to Deadline, production for the film is currently underway in Toronto and the legendary Samuel L. Jackson was announced as one of the stars for the upcoming film. Interestingly enough, it is being reported that he’ll be starring as Chris Rock’s father in the upcoming project.

Also added to the cast are Max Minghella and Marisol Nichols.

Based on the synopsis, Chris Rock will be playing “a police detective investigating a series of grizzly crimes.” Max Minghella will play William Schenk, Chris’ partner on the job and Marisol Nichols will play Chris’ boss Capt. Angie Garza.

According to Variety, Joe Drake, chairman of the Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, spoke about the new additions to the cast and said, “We think Samuel L. Jackson and Chris Rock along with Max Minghella and Marisol Nichols make this film completely special in the ‘Saw’ canon and we can’t wait to unleash this unexpected and sinister new story on fans of this franchise. This is next level of ‘Saw’ on full tilt.”

As we previously reported, Chris Rock is teaming up with Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures for the film, which is scheduled to release in October 2020. Chris wrote the story that is being adapted by Pete Goldfinger and Josh Stolberg.

Back in May, when the film was announced, Chris expressed his excitement and said, “I’ve been a fan of Saw since the first film in 2004. I am excited by the opportunity to take this to a really intense and twisted new place.”
