Former #TheChi star #TiffanyBoone received a lot of love on social media after reports came out that she left the hit #Showtime series after her co-star #JasonMitchell allegedly sexually harassed her.
Tiffany was reportedly not the only one who experienced Jason’s alleged inappropriate behavior and eventually, Jason was kicked off the show based on those allegations of misconduct. His firing happened after Tiffany asked to be released from the show.
Over the weekend, Tiffany took to her IG page to thank fans for the outpouring of support. The message read: “I’ve never spent a lot of time on social media but I wanted everyone who has sent me positivity over the last few weeks to know: I FELT IT. I am so appreciative of all the love, prayers, and support. I love you! I thank you!”
It’s been a tumultuous past few weeks for an embattled Jason Mitchell. In addition to being fired from “The Chi” in May, he was also dropped by his management agency as well as a new #Netflix film that he had been cast as a lead.
The Hollywood Reporter said a source with knowledge of the Showtime series said Tiffany, who plays Jerika, was among several actresses on the show who had issues with Jason.
Tiffany, who played Jason’s girlfriend on the show, reportedly made repeated complaints of sexual harassment and allegedly felt so unsafe with Jason that at times her fiance, “Dear White People” actor Marque Richardson, came to set when she shot scenes with him.
The source also said that Tiffany ultimately informed producers at Fox 21 that she could no longer work with Jason. Initially, he was retained while she was released at her request to pursue other projects.
Other actresses on the series also were said to have had problems with Jason but it’s unclear what finally led the studio to act on the allegations.
