<p><span data-preserver-spaces="true">After changing ad policies, Hulu will now run Democratic ads centered around abortion and gun laws after receiving backlash, <a href="https://www.axios.com/2022/07/27/disney-hulu-political-ads-democrats-abortion-guns">Axios reports</a>.</span></p>
<p><span data-preserver-spaces="true">According to the parent company, Disney, Hulu will now accept political ads. In a statement, the company stated:</span></p>

<blockquote><p><span data-preserver-spaces="true">After a thorough review of ad policies across its linear networks and streaming platforms over the last few months, Disney is now aligning Hulu&#8217;s political advertising policies to be consistent with the company&#8217;s general entertainment and sports cable networks and ESPN+.</span></p></blockquote>
<p><span data-preserver-spaces="true">The statement continued:</span></p>
<blockquote><p><span data-preserver-spaces="true">Hulu will now accept candidate and issue advertisements covering a wide spectrum of policy positions, but reserves the right to request edits or alternative creative, in alignment with industry standards.</span></p></blockquote>
<p><span data-preserver-spaces="true"><a href="https://dev.theshaderoom.com/democrats-blast-hulu-for-not-running-ads-about-gun-laws-abortion-amid-midterm-campaigns/">As previously reported,</a> Democrats submitted ads on July 15th and ran across social media but not on Hulu. When asked about the ads, Hulu stated it was &#8220;content related.&#8221;</span></p>
<p><span data-preserver-spaces="true">Hulu later said they would run the ads but &#8220;followed up to say the message had been sent in error, according to the national Democratic Party official,&#8221; </span><a class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://thehill.com/policy/technology/3573352-hulu-wont-run-democrats-ads-on-abortion-guns/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><span data-preserver-spaces="true">The Hill reports</span></a><span data-preserver-spaces="true">.</span></p>
<p><span data-preserver-spaces="true">The controversial ads are in response to the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade and New York&#8217;s state law restricting permits to carry guns in public.</span></p>
