Roommates, I am so excited to tell you this news! I’m sure most of us used to have our TV’s stuck on BET back in the day back when music was taken for what it was: just music. The television network had been experiencing a bit of an retreat from fans as random dips and shifts in the music industry made it difficult to determine what their viewers wanted from them.
One of the main reasons I personally loved BET is because they had so many shows that catered to all of the hottest music videos of the time! After 106 and Park departed from us, I was definitely missing music being associated with BET, but not anymore! Viacom, the parent company to both VH1 and BET announced that VH1 Soul will be renamed BET Soul and this will include some very needed features and content!
A rep for BET says, “BET Networks is thrilled to infuse more music content within its brand providing viewers with more access to their favorite artists through exclusive content and essentially super-serving them with the ultimate soul experience.”
BET reports that the new channel will be distributed across some of the largest cable distributors, including AT&T U-verse, Cablevision, Cox, Charter, Mediacom, Time Warner Cable, Bright House and Verizon FiOS.
OMG! What if they brought back BET Uncut or Rap City: The Basement on some Teen Nick type ish!???!! This rebranding will be everything if they do it right! Keep soul music alive!
