<p>Following various reports, <strong>Britney Spears </strong>and her husband, <strong>Sam Asghari</strong>, are acknowledging an incident that resulted in the artist getting backhanded by a security guard accompanying San Antonio Spurs rookie <strong>Victor Wembanyama</strong>.</p>
<p>However, the athlete has also broken his silence on the matter and says that Britney was a bit more grabby than reports suggested. Despite this, Britney Spears maintains that she merely &#8220;tapped him on the shoulder&#8221; before getting smacked.</p>

<p>Wembanyama was the first party to publicly acknowledge the incident in question.</p>
<p>In a video shared by KENS 5 sports anchor <a href="https://twitter.com/nateryansports" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Nate Ryan</strong></a>, Victor confirmed that &#8220;something did happen&#8221; the night before.</p>
<p>He said he heard someone trying to get his attention while walking through a busy hallway. However, Victor Wembanyama says he was instructed to keep walking to prevent a crowd from forming, and things ultimately escalated.</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;That person grabbed me from behind. Not on my shoulder, she grabbed me from behind. I just know that the security pushed her away. I don&#8217;t know with how much force, but security pushed her away. I didn&#8217;t stop to look, so I kept walking and enjoyed a nice dinner.&#8221;</p></blockquote>
<p>Victor went on to say that he &#8220;thought it was no big deal&#8221; and &#8220;didn&#8217;t know&#8221; that the fan in question was Britney Spears &#8220;for a couple of hours.&#8221;</p>

<p>Shortly thereafter, Britney also chimed in via Instagram.</p>
<p>She started by acknowledging her acquaintance with &#8220;traumatic experiences&#8221; before declaring, <strong><em>&#8220;I was not prepared for what happened to me last night.&#8221;</em></strong></p>
<p>After sharing that she randomly ran into Victor Wembanyama a couple of times in Las Vegas, Britney says she ultimately decided to try to &#8220;get his attention.&#8221;</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;I decided to approach him and congratulate him on his success. It was really loud, so I tapped him on the shoulder to get his attention.&#8221;</p></blockquote>
<p>Notably, Britney refuted Victor Wembanyama&#8217;s claim that she &#8220;grabbed [him] from behind&#8221; and doubled down on &#8220;simply tapp[ing] him on the shoulder.&#8221;</p>
<p>She then recalled the security guard &#8220;[backhanding her] in the face without looking back.&#8221;</p>
<p>The pop star was sure to add, <strong><em>&#8220;I get swarmed by people all the time&#8230; My security team [doesn&#8217;t] hit any of them.&#8221;</em></strong></p>

<p>Britney wrapped up her message by thanking fans for the &#8220;love and support.&#8221; Spears also expressed her gratitude to the detectives handling the case.</p>

<p>Britney&#8217;s husband also chimed in on Instagram.</p>
<p>After declaring that he&#8217;s &#8220;opposed to violence,&#8221; Sam Asghari said that his &#8220;subdued&#8221; reaction could serve as a lesson.</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;I consider my reaction subdued considering what occurred, and I hope the man in question learns a lesson and changes his disregard for women.&#8221;</p></blockquote>
<p>Asghari went on to call the alleged assailant an &#8220;out-of-control security guard&#8221; who is &#8220;cast[ing] a shadow&#8221; on Victor Wembanyama&#8217;s accomplishments. He also lambasted the &#8220;systemic culture of disregard for women.&#8221;</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;The blame should fall on the coward who did this, the people who hired him without proper vetting, and a systemic culture of disrespect for women in sports and entertainment.&#8221;</p></blockquote>

<p>According to <a href="https://www.tmz.com/2023/07/07/victor-wembanyama-security-guard-wont-be-charged-over-britney-spears-slap-cops-say/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">TMZ</a>, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department concluded an investigation into the incident Friday. Furthermore, &#8220;no charges will be filed&#8221; against Victor Webbanyama&#8217;s security guard in the slapping of Britney Spears.</p>
<p>Since then, the outlet has also published a video of the incident which appears to affirm Spear&#8217;s account of the incident.</p>
