Five people are dead, and eight–including two police officers–are injured after a mass shooting incident Monday morning at a bank in Louisville, Kentucky, according to authorities.
The gunman reportedly opened fire inside the Old National Bank’s first-floor conference room at around 8:30 a.m., ABC News reports.
At a Monday conference, Louisville police confirmed four civilians were killed. The suspected gunman is also dead, but police haven’t confirmed whether it was self-inflicted or a result of a confrontation with authorities.

Eyewitnesses told WHAS-11 that the shooter was armed with a long gun and “just started shooting.”

Responding Police Officer Allegedly Shot In The Head, Rushed To Hospital In Critical Condition
A responding police officer was shot in the head, sources told ABC News. He was taken in critical condition to a nearby hospital and rushed to emergency surgery.
Another officer was injured and taken to the hospital. However, their condition remains unknown as of later Monday morning.
Preliminary information suggests the shooting does not appear to be terror-related.
At 9:15 a.m., Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg tweeted that local residents should avoid the area around Slugger Field until further notice.
Just an hour later, the Louisville Police Department tweeted that the “suspected shooter has been neutralized” and that “there is no longer an active aggressor threat.”

Officials Respond To Mass Shooting Incident, Suspect May Have Been Former Bank Employee
Preliminary reports claim the gunman may have been a former employer at the bank, according to WHAS-11.
Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear said in a tweet he was headed to the scene of the shooting.
“Please pray for all of the families impacted and for the city of Louisville,” he tweeted.
The FBI and ATF agents are assisting with the incident and investigation.
