<p>Walmart has apologized for a back to school campaign featuring guns. There was banner situated atop of a gun display which read: &#8220;Own the school year like a hero&#8221; and it understandably disturbed and confused shoppers. The incident occurred in Evansville, Ind. and has been taken down.</p>
<p>Considering how sensitive gun dialogue is in the U.S. due to unbalanced support for certain gun laws, unlawful slayings by police and an increase in school shootings, consumers demanded answers.</p>
<p>&#8220;We are investigating this situation and deeply regret that this image has been circulated as it doesn&#8217;t represent our company values,&#8221; Walmart tweeted upon learning of the photo. They tweeted to another Twitter user that “This REALLY isn’t acceptable,” and that &#8220;The sign’s gone and we’re looking into how this could have happened.”</p>
<p>It is unclear whether an employee created the display or a customer manipulated it, however, Charles Crowson, a spokesman for Walmart, sent a statement to the Washington Post where he reinforced that there would be an investigation. “What’s seen in this photograph would never be acceptable in our stores,” he said. &#8220;We regret this situation and are looking into how it could have happened.”</p>
