Y’all, Walmart had a LOT of explaining to do after customers spotted a wig cap listing on their website with the color described as “n****r brown.” We all had to take a second look when we first saw the posting.
After a series of angry blog posts and even more tweets from Black Twitter, the company issued a statement saying they are also upset by the product listing. “We are very sorry and appalled that this third party seller listed their item with this description on our online marketplace,” Walmart’s director of corporate communications, Danit Marquardt, said in a statement. “It is a clear violation of our policy, and has been removed, and we are investigating the seller to determine how this could have happened.”
The n-word was featured both in the headline and description for the product. The item was removed Monday afternoon and currently only the black version of the cap is listed on the site.
