<p>We are three days post the 2022 Academy Awards, and celebrities as still sharing their thoughts about the viral moment that took place between Will Smith and Chris Rock the night of the show. Now Wanda Sykes, one of the three co-hosts of this year&#8217;s show, is sharing her account of everything that went on that night.</p>
<p>Wanda was recently a guest on <em><a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6MB67RZ0C1Q">Ellen DeGeneres</a></em>&#8216; talk show, and when asked about what happened that night from her perspective, Wanda shared that she was backstage when the moment happened. She had seen when Will Smith returned to his seat and started to shout out at Chris, and that&#8217;s when someone informed her that Will had slapped Chris.</p>
<p>Wanda said, &#8220;I felt so awful for my friend Chris, and it was sickening. I physically felt ill, and I&#8217;m still a little traumatized by it.&#8221;</p>
<p>She continued, &#8220;And for them to let him stay in that room, and enjoy the rest of the show and accept his award, I was like &#8216;how gross is this? This is just the wrong message. You assault somebody, you get escorted out the building and that&#8217;s it.&#8221;</p>
<p>Wanda then made the audience laugh as she said she wanted to be able to run out after they announced Will as the winner of &#8220;Best Actor,&#8221; and say, &#8220;Unfortunately Will couldn&#8217;t be here tonight.&#8221;</p>
<p>As <em><a href="https://dev.theshaderoom.com/will-smith-issues-a-formal-apology-to-chris-rock-the-academy-others/">previously</a></em> reported, on Monday, Will shared a formal apology to Chris Rock, the Academy, the show&#8217;s producers, the show&#8217;s attendees, and also the viewers across the world.</p>
<p>However, Wanda feels like the show&#8217;s hosts, which were herself, Regina Hall, and <em><a href="https://dev.theshaderoom.com/amy-schumer-says-shes-triggered-traumatized-following-will-smiths-actions-at-the-oscars/">Amy Schumer</a></em> should have also received an apology.</p>
<p>&#8220;We were the hosts, this is our house, we&#8217;re inviting you in, we&#8217;re hosting, we gonna take care of ya&#8217;ll tonight, make sure you have a good time. And no one has apologized to us, and we worked really hard to put that show together,&#8221; said Wanda.</p>
<p>However, Wanda did say that she received an apology from Chris Rock when she ran into him at an afterparty.</p>
