<p>Whew, chile the audacity! A white woman has gone viral on social media after a video showed her calling the police on a man and falsely accusing him of threatening her life, although he video clearly showed he was not threatening her life.</p>
<p>According to <em><a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/white-woman-calls-nypd-after-black-man-asks-her-put-n1214531">NBC News</a></em>, the woman in the video has been identified as Amy Cooper. She was in New York’s Central Park on Monday with her dog and allowing her dog to run around without a leash. The man who recorded the video, and who was falsely accused has been identified as Christian Cooper (no relation).</p>
<p>Christian had been in the park bird watching when he noticed that the dog had been running free. He simply asked the woman to place her dog on the leash, as the rules regulated. She refused and that’s when the theatrics began.</p>
<p>In the video, Amy could be seen telling Christian, “I’m going to tell them there’s an African American man threatening my life.” She proceeded to do so, and the video clearly showed that she had not been threatened by Christian.</p>
<p>Christian’s sister, Melody Cooper uploaded the video to her Twitter and said, “Oh, when Karens take a walk with their dogs off leash in the famous Bramble in NY’s Central Park, where it is clearly posted on signs that dogs MUST be leashed at all times, and someone like my brother (an avid birder) politely asks her to put her dog on the leash.”</p>

<p>Christian later spoke with NBC News about the incident and said, “If the habitat is destroyed, we won’t be able to go there to see the birds, to enjoy the plantings. At some point, she decided I’m gonna play the race card, I guess.”</p>
<p>He continued, “We live in an age of <em><a href="https://dev.theshaderoom.com/ahmaud-arbery-a-black-jogger-was-chased-down-and-shot-to-death-in-georgia-two-months-later-no-arrests-have-been-made/">Ahmaud Arbery</a></em> where black men are gunned down because of assumptions people make about black men, black people, and I’m just not going to participate in that.”</p>
<p>The video has been viewed millions of times, and as you can imagine, Amy is receiving backlash for her actions.</p>
<p>Her employer, investment management company Franklin Templeton, also issued a statement where they revealed she has been placed on administrative leave.</p>

<p>In the end, Amy ended up being apologetic for her actions. She said to NBC News, “I sincerely and humbly apologize to everyone, especially to that man, his family. It was unacceptable and I humbly and fully apologize to everyone who’s seen that video, everyone that’s been offended … everyone who thinks of me in a lower light and I understand why they do.&#8221;</p>
