Following the news of Drakeo The Ruler’s passing, Wiz Khalifa is calling for peace and respect in the entertainment industry. The artist spoke out via Twitter on Sunday afternoon. In two tweets, he challenged entertainers to show more love in the coming year.

“As entertainers let’s try some sh*t next year,” Wiz tweeted. “Minding our own business. Not disrespecting each other’s family, dead homies, or area they come from. Stop using someone else’s significant other as a one up to the other person. Actually showing the same love you expect to get.”

Violence In Entertainment Industry

The message signals the violence we’ve seen against entertainers, not only this past weekend, but in the last year. As previously stated, Drakeo The Ruler was stabbed at the Once Upon A Time festival in Los Angeles on December 18. The large event, headlined by Snoop Dogg, featured dozens of performing artists on the ticket, including Drakeo. Multiple reports say the rapper was backstage when the stabbing took place. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Drakeo passed away from his injuries.

Like Wiz, Snoop also called for peace following the unexpected death. In a statement, Snoop expressed his condolences, said he was in his dressing room when Drakeo was killed and came to the event to “spread positive vibes.” Per his words, he left the grounds immediately after being told about the stabbing.

“My prayers go out to everyone affected by tragedy,” Snoop wrote. “Please take care, love one another and stay safe y’all. I’m PRAYING FOR PEACE IN HIP HOP.”

Young Dolph’s Passing

About a month prior to Drakeo’s passing, Young Dolph was shot and killed in Memphis. While purchasing cookies at Makeda’s Butter Cookies, multiple shooters fired shots from outside the store, striking and killing Dolph.

Wiz Khalifa made it clear that his recommendations for next year aren’t the end all, be all to violence. But, in his eyes, it’s a start.

“Not saying any of these are a direct cause of violence but changing ’em could help,” Wiz tweeted.
