<p>Roommates, we have to give a round of applause to Candace Parker for making history as the first female basketball player to appear on the cover of the popular video game <em><a href="https://dev.theshaderoom.com/the-nba-to-honor-kobe-bryant-with-a-mamba-forever-edition-of-2k21/">NBA 2K</a></em>.</p>
<p>According to <em><a href="https://www.espn.com/wnba/story/_/id/31816516/chicago-sky-candace-parker-first-woman-cover-nba-2k-game">ESPN</a></em>, she will be on the cover of NBA 2K22 in celebration of the WNBA&#8217;s 25th anniversary. The game is scheduled to drop on September 10th.</p>

<p>The Chicago Sky forward spoke about the historical moment and said, &#8220;I grew up a video game fanatic, that&#8217;s what I did, to the point where my brothers would give me the fake controller when I was younger where I think I was playing and I wasn&#8217;t. <p>She continued, &#8220;I think when you&#8217;re young and experience these type of things, you&#8217;re onto the next thing. As I&#8217;ve gotten older, I&#8217;ve really savored the moment.&#8221;</p>

<p>Prior to the news about her landing the cover of NBA 2K, Candace also celebrated landing the cover of Slam Magazine. She said, &#8220;Growing up a hooper, Slam cover cutouts were always on my wall. This is a dream come true!! I respect the game and never take for granted these moments.&#8221;</p>

<p>Candace, who is the first overall pick during the 2008 WNBA Draft, will join the likes of Luka Doncic, who was named as the cover athlete for the game&#8217;s regular edition, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Dirk Nowitzki, and Kevin Durant, who were named as cover athletes for the NBA&#8217;s 75th anniversary edition.</p>
