Woman Causes $200K In Damages At Art Exhibit After Trying To Take A Selfie

DESCRIPTION

#Roommates, the quest for the perfect selfie at a pop-up gallery in Los Angeles came with a pretty high price tag when a woman tried taking a picture of herself and knocked over a display causing a domino effect that resulted in nearly $200K in damages!

According to the LA Times, a pop-up art exhibit at the 14th Factory in Los Angeles got an unexpected (and unwelcomed) surprise after a young lady is seen trying to take a picture by one of the installations that held a very expensive crown. The whole thing was caught on a security camera, where you can see the woman bend down to get a better angle and accidentally knock over one of the pedestals.

Simon Birch (the artist) confirmed the selfie gone horribly wrong did cost $200k, but he is still however open to having people take pictures at the exhibit. He added, “Crowns are fragile things. They are symbols of power. Perhaps it’s ironic and meaningful that they fell.” According to the museum, three of the sculptures were “permanently damaged.”

There’s no word on if the young lady is responsible for paying the $200k but definitely is a learning lesson you don’t always have to do it for the ‘gram!
