WOW! Billie Holiday sang about strange fruit hanging from the poplar trees over 70 years ago. In early March, Otis Byrd, 54, was declared missing after friends told police that he had last been seen being dropped off to a casino in Vicksburg, MS. Two weeks later, he was found hanging from a bed sheet tied to a tree a half mile away from his house. I can’t even smh enough for this! Byrd was released on parole from prison in 2006 after serving 26 years for the murder of Lucille Trimm. Now there are rumors swirling that the lynching is actually in retaliation to his release for that crime. When are we gonna learn that if this is true, two wrongs don’t make a right!? The NAACP is now lobbying to have the case treated as a hate crime.
