Earlier this year it was confirmed that there would be a spinoff of ABCs hit show Black-ish, starring Yara Shahidi. It was announced that show would appear on Freeform, and was previously titled College-ish.
With the series drawing closer the show now has a new name.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the series will now be called Grown-ish, opposed to its previous title.
Creator Kenya Barris talked about the shows new name in a statement, she said, Grown-ishreflects what well be dealing with in the show that in-between place where youre not quite an adult but facing grown world problems for the first time. WhereBlack-ishexamines what it means to be black,Grown-ishis an examination of what it is and what it means to be grown.
The show will follow Shahidis character Zoey Johnson as she leaves her parents household and heads off to college at Southern California University.
It was previously mentioned that Deon Cole would be joining his Black-ish, co-star on the new series. The network recently announced that Trevor Jackson, Chris Parnelland Emily Arlook would join Shahidi and Cole on the show as cast members.
