Former NFL running back Zac Stacy went viral last month after he was seen on video physically assaulting the mother of his child. Stacy has since been arrested and charged with aggravated assault and criminal mischief.
While Stacy can be seen grabbing and throwing throwing his ex-girlfriend Kristin Evans into a television in the viral video, new footage obtained by TMZ shows the moment he spoke with authorities about the incident. He claims Kristin “staged” the whole thing after he ended their relationship.
“It’s just a case of bitterness, man,” Stacy told the cops who cuffed him. “That’s why she did this. The whole assault thing, she staged it. She set me up. The whole thing was staged. All she’s trying to do is get money out of me. She got a reaction out of me.”
Zac told the officers the incident happened after he returned to see Kristin after was was released from rehab for anxiety and depression. According to him, he wanted nothing more than to support Kristin, who had just given birth to their child, but things went left when he told her he didn’t want to be in a relationship with her anymore.
He also alleged Kristin was sleeping with his financial consultant.
“She knew I was down, she knew I was going through anxiety and depression,” he said. “She knew I was trying to close this gap that’s between me and my son and she’s just upset that she got caught and she’s upset I’m not taking care of him like she expected. And now she took it this far.”
