According to IndieWire, the sequel of 1988</span><a href="https://www.indiewire.com/t/eddie-murphy/"> <span style="font-weight: 400;">Eddie Murphy</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> classic, has reportedly been sold to</span><a href="https://www.indiewire.com/t/amazon/"> <span style="font-weight: 400;">Amazon</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> Studios for a total of $125 million and will be available December 18th.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">According to</span><a href="https://variety.com/2020/film/news/eddie-murphys-coming-2-america-moves-from-paramount-to-amazon-studios-1234799523"> <span style="font-weight: 400;">Variety</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">, the movie is set to premiere on Amazon Prime December 18th, presumably bypassing theaters amid struggles for the exhibition sector during the pandemic, Indie Wire reports.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">As previously reported, </span><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">Coming 2 America </span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;">focuses on Prince Akeem returning to America when he discovers he has a long-lost son. The film will be directed by Craig Brewer with a script by </span><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">Black-ish </span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;">creator Kenya Barris and is set to hit theaters in 2020.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The movie gon’ be lit because several people have reprised their roles. As we previously reported Eddie Murphy, Arsenio Hall, James Earl Jones, John Amos, Paul Bates, Wesley Snipes, KiKi Layne, Rick Ross, Leslie Jones and Jermaine Fowler will be part of the &#8216;Coming 2 America&#8217; cast.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Just last month, Eddie Murphy just won his first Emmy for his guest role on ‘Saturday Night Live’.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">This was the 59-year old’s first nomination in 21 years but his fifth nomination overall. He was last nominated in 1999 for outstanding animated program (for programming one hour or less) for Fox’s The PJs, according to People.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">In December, Murphy reprised some of his most iconic SNL characters when he hosted the show for the first time in 35 years.</span></p>
