It looks like Chris Rock’s popular scripted series “Everybody Hates Chris,” could be making a comeback. However, this time, the show would be an animated series.

According to Deadline, the series is being developed at CBS Studios, the show’s original co-creators Chris Rock and Ali LeRoi are behind the project. Chris Rock is expected to narrate the animated series as he did the original series. The show, along with the American version of the Israeli drama “Shtisel,” will soon be taken to potential buyers.

Fans of the original series know that the show aired from 2005-2009, and the show focused on Chris Rock’s life as a teenager as he grew up in the Bed Stuy area of Brooklyn. The show originally aired on UPN, and then transferred over to the CW in 2006 up until the series finale in 2009.

Ali LeRoi shared the news of the reboot and said, “We are so in there.”

There has not been any official word if any of the cast members from the original show will return to voice the animated versions of their characters.

During the show’s time on the air, it racked up multiple award nominations including a Golden Globe nomination in 2006 and two Emmy Award nominations that same year, and another in 2009. The show won an award at the 2006 NAACP Image Awards for Outstanding Comedy Series, while Tichina Arnold walked away with an award for Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series.

The following year, Tyler James Williams, who starred as the younger version of Chris Rock, won an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actor in a Comedy series.

Are you here for an animated version of “Everybody Hates Chris?”
