7-Year-Old Hit By Truck At Bus Stop Speaks Out After Surviving | TSR Investigates
A 7-year-old Georgia boy was hit by a pickup truck while crossing the street to his school bus stop, leaving him in a medically induced coma for seven days. Aiden Ransom was walking to meet his older brother at a bus stop in Rome, Georgia, when a Ford F-150 struck him and sent him flying across the road. Aiden suffered a pelvic fracture, torn ligament, clavicle fracture and traumatic brain injury.
In this TSR Investigates exclusive, Aiden and his family tell us what happened that morning, the devastating aftermath and why the driver was never charged. Aiden’s father, Travon Ransom, says investigators closed the case without the family ever being fully updated. He also reveals that he was struck by a vehicle on the same street less than a year earlier.
The case raises a larger question: Are our kids safe walking to the school bus?
We look at dangerous driving around school zones and bus stops, the morning hours when school-age pedestrian crashes are a serious concern, and the changes Aiden’s family says could make their neighborhood safer—from speed bumps to speed displays and other traffic controls.
Despite everything he has been through, Aiden is now in rehabilitation and physical therapy as he works toward getting back on his feet. His community has rallied around the family, and support continues to pour in as Aiden recovers.
